Collecting samples
What samples will I need to take?

Our STI test kits are all easy to use and come with clear instructions. There are pictures to help you follow each step.

You need to take your own samples to be tested – this is known as self-sampling.

  • Men need to give a urine sample unless they are only doing a blood test.

  • Women need to swab the vagina unless they are only doing a blood test.
  • Depending on the test you choose, you may need to take a blood sample.

  • If you’ve had anal (in your bottom) sex, or oral (in your mouth) sex with male partners, we would recommend that you also take a swab from your bottom and/or your throat.
How do I take a blood sample?

You’ll need to take a blood sample to test for HIV, syphilis, hepatitis B, or hepatitis C.
